BCA News: Summer 2016
Photographer extraordinaire, Charles "Chip" Hedgcock, RBP, FBPA was inducted as the 68th Louis Schmidt Laureate for his outstanding contributions to biocommincations. Beginning in 1948 the Schmidt Award has been BCA's highest honor bestowed to a member. Candidates are selected by a committee of the nine most recent Schmidt laureates and approved by the Executive Committee.
James Koepfler, FBCA, received BCA's second highest honor, the Ralph Creer Service Award for his distinguished services to BCA.
John "Jeb" Zirato was honored with Fellowship and Emeritus membership. Karen Hensley was also honored with Fellowship and Emeritus membership. Alan Goldstein, FBPA receives Emeritus for his 44 years of distinguished services and contributions.
Nancy Hurtgen, BCA Office Manger, now retired after serving BPA/BCA for 27 years, was awarded Honorary Membership to the BCA.
Fellowship nominations are reviewed by a committee and awards are given based on the individual's distinguished craftsmanship and contributions to the advancement of media in the life science. Emeritus membership is a BCA honor and awarded to members who are 55 and over, and have retired from the field of biocommunications.
