BIOCOMM 2005 - Portland, OR

Meeting Highlights

The 75th annual meeting of the BioCommunications Association was held in Portland Oregon, July 21-24, 2005, at the Benson Hotel. This 3-day premier event brought Biocommunications professionals together to learn and network.

The winner for longest distance traveled was probably Anders Petersen from Denmark followed by Karen Akiyama from Hawaii.

The meeting opened with the BioImages salon with The Nikon Best of Show Prize awarded to Norm Barker of Johns Hopkins. The next day began with a keynote presentation by James Henderson RBP, a Lennart Nilsson Award winner. The following days were packed with presentations and a new mini trade show. Digital Photographer Stephen Johnson presented the Pioneer Lecture.

Workshops followed on Monday with over 40 people signing up to increase their skills in a diverse range of topics. Karna McKinney was Program Chair for the meeting, Tom Turner was Workshops Coordinator and Cheryl Montgomery and Lorayne Ham Co-Chaired the BioImages Salon.
