BIOCOMM 2004 - Boston, MA

Meeting Highlights

BIOCOMM 2004 was held July 10-13, 2004 in Boston, MA, at the Hyatt Harborside Hotel overlooking the harbor and skyline of Boston. The meeting piggybacked the MacWorld meeting opening the door to a wider speaker field.

Bonnie Meltzer set the tone for the meeting with her Keynote address. The plenary sessions focused on Ethics and Standards, Presentation Technologies, Service Strategies, and Production Technologies. The Pioneer Lecture was given by Carlton Ward, Jr. Eco-Photo-Journalist, who presented lovely images from Africa.

Workshops ranged from producing and editing video, to total body photography, to graphic design and digital photomicrography.

The meeting concluded with the awards banquet. The Louis Schmidt Award was presented to Bob Turner, RBP, FBPA. Marilee Caliendo, RBP, FBPA received the Ralph Creer Service Award, and the President’s Award was given to Anita Tellier. FBCA, Jim Fosse, RBP, FBCA was named a Fellow of the Association. Richard Frederickson was Program Chair and Michael Peres, RBP, FBPA was Workshop Coordinator. Laurie Lizotte, Susanne Loomis and Kristen Toohey coordinated the BioImages 2004 Salon.
