Each year the BCA holds an annual conference for its members to learn new skills and technologies, teach, and network with other professionals in the fields of visual media in the life sciences. Outside experts in related fields are also brought in to teach specific interests that enhance our capability to provide new and more in-depth services to our clientele and employers.

BIOCOMM 2013 is an international meeting with three days of classroom and workshop sessions as well as a two day outdoor workshop sponsored by Nikon. The conference topics include: new advancements and upcoming technologies in photography, microscopy, software, design, illustration, social media and mobile device solutions. BIOCOMM has also covered service strategies and delivery, production needs, management, marketing, branding, writing, and publishing.

NikonThe Nikon workshop pairs members with experts in photography in a more casual setting to allow them to further refine their craft, to receive valuable critique and help from both their peers and visiting experts. In conjunction with the conference is BioImages, a juried media salon that showcases the accomplishments of BCA members and their organizations. The conference also provides space for commercial exhibits to provide attendees with inspiration and the latest information on visual media in the life sciences.
